ST. JAMES UNITED CHURCH
PREPARING FOR THE FUNERAL OF YOUR LOVED ONE
Minister
Rev. Laura Sundberg
We are with you in your sorrow. Our minister and the whole of St. James community wishes to support your family through the difficult task of preparing for the funeral of your loved one. One of the ministers will meet with you to work out any and all of the details of the service. We hope that the service will bring you comfort.
Honorariums:
There is no fee associated with the use of the church building for the funeral service, however, to support the ongoing ministry of the church suggested donations to the Church are encouraged (e.g. $200 - $400). If you wish to present a voluntary honorarium, an amount of $100 is suggested for the minister. Also, because of the time involved, which often means time away from regular employment, we ask $75.00 for the pianist/organist if not arranged for by a funeral home. In cases where these honoraria present a hardship, other arrangements can be made.
Reception:
The room beside the sanctuary, room 9, is the reception room of the church. It comfortably holds 125-150 people. We have volunteers who will set up a lunch. They can provide hot drinks, coffee, tea and juice among with fruit breads. An estimate of how many people will attend would be appreciated. Should you prefer a more elaborate lunch we invite you to provide the food arranged on trays and our volunteers will be happy to serve it. St. James asks for a donation to the church. Donations range from $160 - $200 according to what you feel is appropriate.
