Pastoral Care Committee

FAITH FRIENDS: The Pastoral Care Committee is looking for a few people to be part of a “buddy system” for members who cannot get out to church and would appreciate a monthly visit or telephone call. It is a chance to make a new friend and offer support. This is a 6 month pilot project which we will evaluate in June. HOUSE GROUPS:

If you are new to St. James, or are currently not part of a house group, please contact Judy Jones (543 7360) or email judithjones@sasktel.net ,and you will be welcomed into one of our 7 hospitality groups. Each group is responsible for providing volunteers for greeting, ushering, scripture reading, counting offering or serving communion, once every seven months

St James Reach Out Club

The Reach Out Club was started in an attempt to 'reach out' to those at St. James who would like to get out once a month with a group of people with no agenda other than to socialize, have fun, and eat. It has been a hit as there has been a good turnout each month as we visit various restaurants where we can accomplish this very unique task. If you would like to come out and join us, but need a ride, we can arrange that.

We will meet at the church at 11:30 to carpool. If anyone needs a ride call the church office ( 5432626) or Priscilla (5436473)

S and B Group

St James has an active and lively knitting group that meets on the first and third Thursday of the month in the lounge. Come and join this group for knitting and fellowship.

Layette Program

The 'Healthiest Babies Possible' Layette Outreach Program supplies layettes to the Four Directions Community Health Centre. Each layette includes a quilt or blanket, two receiving blankets, two sleepers, two undershirts, a knitted sweater set, diapers, and a small Vaseline container. Your continued support and donations of items is appreciated. For more information call Louise McMaster at 761-2580

Prayer Shawl Group

We will provide warm shawls to place on the shoulders and laps of those in our midst who suffer the pain of loss, sadness or illness. It has proven to be a truly rewarding ministry to those around us who ache for a comforting word and touch. Many recipients have been richly blessed by these gifts over the past few years and as knitters we are also blessed by each life that is touched and by each stitch that is prayed over as we visit in a communion of love and connection twice a month.

There continue to be beautiful stories about the way that our prayer shawls and lap blankets have been a blessing to those who have received them! It is an awesome privilege to be a part of something so amazing! Keep up the good work, everyone! If you have any questions, please feel free to call Okie at 543-3861 or at okiegisela@accesscomm.ca. St James Choir

CHOIR PRACTICE: is being held every Thursday, at 7:30 pm. If you like to sing and enjoy good fellowship please join us as we are always looking for new members. Joan Robertson is the Choir Director and Ashley Tyndale is the Pianist.

Women's discussion and fellowship Group

The group will commence meeting (Sept. 26) at 9:00 a.m. in room 4/5. Our subject will be “Uppity Women of the Bible” – a four volume DVD-based series featuring Dr. Lisa Wolfe – combining careful scholarship with humour and fresh insights.

The Listeners

The Listeners is a group within St James with the purpose to support the spiritual well being of the congregation. We are willing to listen to you in confidence. You are free to speak on whatever is on your mind...concerns, joys, issues, celebrations, thoughts, ideas, praises, troubles. The members of Listeners include Barb Dornan, Colleen Barss, Dave Petrie, Janet Croissant, Jean Thomas, Randy Graham, Sheena Folnovic. Please feel free to approach anyone of us. Email on the message board are sent to Sheena Folnovic but can be redirected to any of the members by putting a note in the "subject" of the email.
